The fishery is situated within the heart of Perth and Kinross, and its nearby historic landmarks such as Loch Leven and it’s famous Brown trout fishing and Loch Leven Castle where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567

 

Kinross lies ideally situated for travelling from Edinburgh/Glasgow/Perth/Stirling/Dundee all of which benefit from tourists not only looking to catch our quality sports fish but from visiting the other attractions in nearby areas of Scotland.

 

We offer quality fly, C&R spinning, bait & float-tube fishing on 4 waters set in one of Scotland's premier locations.

Permits can be purchased from the fishery office and prior booking is advised. Bait rods available for hire.

At Kinross Fishery C&R Fly fishing is FREE for under 16's.

We are open from 8am-dusk.

All waters are stocked with - Rainbow, Browns and Blue trout supplied from our nearby premier hatchery who are renowned for highest quality, hardest fighting re-stocking trout in Scotland. We are currently stocking mostly Blues in fly waters as well as 2lb-20lb of Grade A with blues which are famous for their power & agility. In addition each week double figure Rainbows are placed into the fly waters

ABOUT OUR PONDS

Baxter

Our largest water is fly only. There are fishing platforms around the pond as well as area's for bank fishing. Max of 15 pre-booked float tubes (priority to bank anglers, unless specified)  They MUST  provide & use manually operated gas inflated life-jackets.

It should be noted that the main Baxters water drops off deeply and no wading should be attempted. The wearing of waders in the fishery is not recommended as full access is given to all fishing areas.

Baxter is stocked with Rainbow, Blue and Brown trout which weigh from 1.75lb to 20lb.

Charlie

Our second largest fly water has fishing platforms around it, as well as area's for bank fishing.

Maximum of 2 pre-booked float tubes (priority to bank anglers)

Ross

Any legal method (no trebles allowed) which includes bait and spinning. There are some fishing platforms on this pond as well as fishing from the bank. 

Ross is stocked generally with Rainbow and Blue Trout which weigh from just over the pound with a mix of 2&3lb fish (including blues to 14lb and rainbows to 16.5lbs). The stock of smaller trout is to give the kids a chance to get hooked on fishing, without emptying their parent’s wallets if they go over the limit.

Dougray (or Doug's Pool)

Our third fly water has 8 pegs available, and is stocked with rainbow, blue and brown trout, weighing from 1.75lb to 17lbs.

All fly waters have a kill ticket limit to 10lbs in weight.  In return for having a verified double figure fish returned, anglers will be compensated with an extra fish on their bag limit, or a 4 hour catch and release ticket.

Our fish

 

Our Rainbow, Blue and Brown trout are supplied by Westmill fish farm (Cloan Hatcherie's) you can find them on facebook they provide us with top quality, fully finned and hard fighting fish.

 

Westmill Farm is situated near Blairgowrie in Perthshire. They pride themselves on professionalism, quality of service and the high standards of there fish. They are disease free and

fully finned to fight hard.

The Grouse and Claret

 

 

This established restaurant overlooks the fishery from it's beautiful gardens. Your hosts provide a warm welcome, fantastic cuisine and make you feel special with a personal touch. Weather permitting why not have a stroll with a drink before your meal whilst overlooking the lochans of the fishery. They describe their food as modern Scottish with some Oriental flavours and you can come and have anything from a light lunch to a 5 course dinner. 

They provide accommodation in a detached cottage with 3 comfortable double en-suite rooms.

Corporate days can be arranged between the fishery and the Grouse and Claret restaurant. Check out their website and their online menu.

Fishery Maintenance 

​

Maintenance is a top priority for us, since re-opening in May 2018, we have been continually

improving the fishery, and making it more family friendly.  Including the installation of a new permit lodge with tackle and snacks available in the shop.
